Join us for a tribute to all things flight in the heart of the Air Capital. Experience what it’s like to fly by stepping into a B-52 or F-4 simulator. Drop into Century II Exhibition Hall to see the displays that represent Wichita at air shows around the world. Pilot your way through a platter of wings at the inaugural Riverfest Wing Eating Contest. Keep an eye out for Amelia Earhart, Clyde Cessna, Charles Lindberg other famous aviators in the festival crowd while you enjoy these events and many more. This is your day to celebrate our role in the international aviation industry!

Johnsonville Big Taste Grill
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: WaterWalk Pavilion
The Big Taste Grill is bringing BIG brat taste to Riverfest! This massive mobile grill is a unique feat of engineering and turns out 2,500 brats an hour!


Jet Ski Racing: IJSBA Mid-America Watercross Championships
9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Arkansas River North of the Lewis Street Bridge
Head to the Arkansas River with your blanket and sunscreen to watch rounds one and two of the IJSBA Mid-America Watercross Championships. Jet ski racers from across the nation will be challenged by the most difficult course in this year’s series. Enjoy a spectacular day of exciting racing featuring the high flying action of the log jump and speeds reaching 80 mph. For more information call (316) 312-4049.

It’s not often you see planes lining a downtown street! Get an up-close look at a few of the flying machines that were proudly manufactured in Wichita.

Fly Like an Eagle

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location:  Main & Douglas
Presented by: Kansas Aviation Museum
Experience the thrill of piloting the world’s only public access B-52 simulator, built from an actual B-52 cockpit made by Boeing in Wichita. The cost to pilot the simulator is $1 per minute with a 15-minute minimum, which covers one solo pilot or two co-pilots. The simulator also has two observation seats, which are $5 each per flight. Also fly the iconic F4 fighter, $1 per minute with a 10-minute minimum. On static display, see the meticulously restored 737 cockpit. Brought to you by Nu-Tek Simulations and the Kansas Aviation Museum. Stop by the display and sign up for a chance to win one of five family day passes to the Kansas Aviation Museum.

Arkansas River Coalition River Rides: Canoes
10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Under the Douglas Street Bridge

Toy Trains

Trains are fun for all ages and this display by the Wichita Toy Train Museum will have you dreaming of ridin’ the rails.

Poi Ball

10 – 11 a.m.
LOCATION: Fit ‘n’ Fun Zone at WaterWalk Pavilion
Learn the hpotic art of poi ball.

Kansas Army National Guard

Location: Main and Waterman
Check out the rock climbing wall, mechanical bull and other attractions sure to test your strength, stamina and skills!

Aviation Pioneers
11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Tent behind Public Library
Sponsored by: Wichita Public Library
This is your chance to step back in time and meet some of the famous aviators of yesteryear. Pioneers of the sky Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindberg, the Wright Brothers and others will be on hand to share their trailblazing stories.

Alefs Harley-Davidson Rumble by the River

Noon to 5 p.m.
Location: Start: Alefs Harley-Davidson, I-135 & 53rd St. North
       End: Main & Waterman
Rev your motor and get your bike ready to Rumble on the River. The ride will start at Alefs Harley-Davidson for some food, fun and shopping for Harley-Davidson gear. Then head off on a scenic ride, visiting several well-know bike stops, and end up at a classic rock stage in the heart of Riverfest. Admirals Armada
1–5 p.m.
Location: Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum
Enjoy free admission to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum with your Riverfest button on June 1 and discover a plethora of Wichita history, including a complete collection of Riverfest buttons and items of Riverfest memorabilia. Drop by from 1-2 p.m. and take your photo with this year’s Admiral Windwagon Smith XLI Ron Ryan or amid an Armada of Admirals from past festivals.


Cruise-In

1–5 p.m.

Rosie the Riveter Look-A-Like Contest
Registration on site: 1 – 3 p.m.; Judging: 3 p.m.
Location:  Kennedy Plaza Stage
WWII saw the rise of the pin-up girl, but this girl won our hearts and the war. She was the iconic Rosie the Riveter, and Wichita was home to many women who went to work in factories across the country. Muster your inner “Can Do” spirit, don your work clothes and bandannas and compete to become Riverfest Rosie!  The winner will receive a set of tools and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.


Botanica’s Butterfly Festival


1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: Botanica,701 Amidon
Flutter on in to Botanica's Butterfly Festival! The first 100 children will have an unique opportunity to release a butterfly in the butterfly house. Walk 18 acres of beautiful gardens and enjoy butterfly related games and activities. Have a photo taken by Art’s Photography, play butterfly bingo, get a free snow cone with any purchase from Pat’s Concessions and much more. Attend the Butterfly Festival for $3 admission with a Riverfest button or enjoy the gardens the entire week of Riverfest for $2-off general admission with your Riverfest button.

Cardboard Regatta
1 to 3 p.m.
Location: Douglas Street Bridge
The tools? A stack of cardboard, a roll of duct tape, pool noodles and a box cutter (for the responsible adults). The challenge? Build a river-worthy vessel in 1 ½ hours or less. There is no limit to the team size, but at least one team member must ride in the regatta. Awards will be presented for fastest time, longest float and most spectacular sinking.

Battle of the Bands
1 - 5 p.m.

Pizza Hut Wing Street Wing-Eating Contest

2 – 3 p.m.
Location:  Food Court Stage
Do you have what it takes to pilot your way through a platter of wings at the inaugural Riverfest Wing Eating Contest? If so, you’ll want to enter the wing eating contest for a chance to win some great prizes — including cash!! Contest is open to the first 12 qualified participants who sign up. 

Paper Airplane Drop
3 – 4 p.m.
Location: Century II, Exhibition Hall
For ages 5 to 17. See if you have the skills it takes to build an airplane that will win you some cash! Land your plane on the target zone from the mezzanine above and you win $100. 

Hot Air Balloons

6 p.m. launch
Location: WaterWalk Pavilion

These majestic and colorful icons of Riverfest return for an evening launch to celebrate this day of flight.


Wingnuts Baseball
6 – 10 p.m.
Location: Lawrence-Dumont Stadium
Spend the evening with your defending Central Division Champions, the Wichita Wingnuts, as they take on the El Paso Diablos. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Come for an exciting evening of entertainment and then stay after the game to run the bases and catch an autograph from your favorite Wingnuts players. Show your Riverfest button at the box office to receive a FREE General Admission ticket. No buttons will be sold on site.

Ad Astra Concert starring Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
