The Si Se Puede Award
The Si Se Puede Award is awarded annually at Fiesta Del Rio. The “Si Se Puede” award goes to a young professional in our community who is making an impact in the Hispanic community. This individual will be presented this award by the admiral and the Fiesta Del Rio Chair each year.
Past Winners:
2026 Winner: Refugio Martinez
Refugio Martínez is a community leader whose heart for service inspired Trucking for Toys, an initiative that delivers toys to children in need across Wichita. What began as a simple act of generosity has grown into a joyful tradition that brings hope, excitement, and dignity to families who need it most.
This year, Refugio’s impact was honored publicly as he became the second recipient of the Sí Se Puede Award, presented during Fiesta del Río. His dedication to uplifting local children and strengthening community bonds reflects the spirit of the award — proving that when one person steps up with courage and compassion, an entire city feels the difference.
2025 Winner: Alex Garcia-Vollatoro
Alex is an active civic leader in Wichita, currently serving as Chair of the District 4 Advisory Board, where he helps guide recommendations on public safety, infrastructure, and neighborhood issues. A strong advocate for elevating younger voices in local government, he also serves as Vice President of Young Latino Professionals of Wichita, supporting professional growth and community involvement among Latino leaders.
His commitment to service began early through the Mayor’s Youth Council and the National League of Cities’ Youth, Education, and Families Council, where he contributed to national conversations on education and youth violence prevention. Alex continues to give back through volunteer and philanthropic work, including supporting United Way initiatives through Intrust Bank and contributing to WFI’s nonprofit efforts as a longtime FDR committee member and event volunteer.
Alex was awarded the first Si Se Puede Award in 2025 for his amazing contributions to the Wichita community.
