WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 8, 2025 – Wichita Festivals, Inc., a not-for-profit with the purpose of creating diverse and inclusive community celebrations in the Wichita area, along with Emprise Bank, a long-time sponsor of Riverfest’s Poster & Artwork Contest, today unveiled the 2025 official artwork designs for the 53rd festival, set for May 30 – June 7. It introduced artist Terry Twomey (Two-me) at a press conference at Emprise Bank.
“It’s an honor to showcase great work by our local artists,” said Mike Michaelis, vice chairman of the Emprise Bank board of directors and president of Emprise Financial Corporation. “Emprise Bank is a long-standing sponsor of the Riverfest artwork contest, and it’s exciting to kick off the annual Riverfest celebration by announcing the winning submission. We look forward to seeing the artwork across the community.”
Twomey has been a professional graphic artist for over 25 years. “I started doing portrait pencil drawings when I was nine,” said Twomey. “I do 3D animations, visual effects, sculpting, painting and prop building.”
“I think of the Riverfest as a giant block party, with people spending time together.”

“In August, creativity struck, and I started with some initial concepts and things really started coming together quickly. I couldn’t stop working on it,” said Twomey. “I think of the Riverfest as a giant block party, with people spending time together. I wanted the poster to be fun, busy, musical and colorful with lots of people doing all sorts of things at once.”
“As we celebrate the 53rd annual Riverfest, the judges loved the nostalgic look for this year’s artwork; it really embodied the spirit of the Riverfest,” said Becky (Filiatreault) Miranda, interim CEO for Wichita Festivals. “Terry will tell you, this isn’t his first time entering the contest. He’s entered the competition nine times over the years, and we’re happy he didn’t give up!”
The 53rd festival will feature crowd favorites, such as the Sundown Parade, the River Run and three firework shows over the nine-day festival.
The poster, sponsored by Docuplex, serves as an invitation to the largest community celebration in Kansas.
A Riverfest button allows admission for all nine days of the festival. Adult buttons are for ages 13 and up, and children’s buttons for ages 6-12 will be available later this spring. Children five and younger get in free.
