WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. (WFI) is proud to announce the appointment of BreAnna Monk as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. Monk, a dynamic leader with over 15 years of experience in event management, business operations, and community engagement, brings a vision for growth, innovation, and inclusivity to Wichita’s most cherished events.
Monk’s selection marks an exciting new chapter for WFI, which produces iconic events such as the annual Riverfest, the largest community celebration in Kansas. With more than a decade of WFI volunteer committee experience, Monk has a deep understanding of the organization and the community it serves.
“BreAnna has been a committed advocate and leader for Wichita Festivals for years, and her record of success in organizing large-scale events, managing teams, and building partnerships makes her the ideal choice to lead us into the future,” said Cecilia Thibault, Chair of the Wichita Festivals Board of Directors. “Her expertise, fresh perspective, and passion for this community are exactly what WFI needs as we work to expand our reach and impact.”
As President and CEO, Monk will oversee the strategic planning and execution of WFI’s events, manage organizational operations, lead staff and volunteer teams, and drive revenue growth.
Monk’s career includes the successful planning and execution of over 300 events across multiple cities, from corporate conferences and concerts to citywide celebrations. Her proven skills in strategic planning, volunteer leadership, and financial management make her well-positioned to lead WFI through its next phase of growth and innovation.

As the first Black woman to serve as President and CEO of Wichita Festivals, Monk’s leadership reflects the organization’s commitment to embracing innovation and inclusivity. Her appointment is a testament to WFI’s vision of building vibrant, community-focused events that reflect the culture and spirit of Wichita. Monk will officially assume her role on January 13, 2025.
